It’s official! Harris County has approved the $105 million deal to renovate the Astrodome into an event and convention center! According to the Houston Chronicle, “Tuesday’s decision was the final go-ahead before design and eventual construction of a project that would raise the ground level two floors to fit in roughly 1,400 parking spaces, and transform the former Eighth Wonder of the World into a venue for festivals and conferences.”

This renovation is heavily supported by the Houston Texans and RodeoHouston which leads me to believe there may be a future expansion of post Texans/RodeoHouston. I mean, if I want to be creative I can picture an entire after party/festival type thing inside the Astrodome after The Hideout on steroids!

RodeoHouston President & CEO, Joe Cowley, described the Astrodome as “nine acres of dead space in the middle of Disneyland.”

That says it all, really.

Get ready, Houston! The Astrdome is being resurrected!
