Garth Brooks took home another Entertainer of the Year award at Wednesday Night’s Country Music Association Awards. But that wasn’t the big headline after the Country music superstar got on stage and performed “Ask Me How I Know” for the crowd and tv audience. Brooks lip-synced his performance using a recorded live track.
After Brooks got off stage accepting his award for Entertainer of the Year he admitted to reporters that he had lip-synced his performance on the night because he was sick and was worried about his voice for upcoming shows.
“The CMAs were sweet enough to let me sleep until Wednesday,” he said. “We did our rehearsals today and a game-time call on whether or not we would sing to track or lip sync it and I decided to lip sync because the voice was just not there and you want to represent country music the best you can.”
Brooks is in the middle of a run of 12 shows in 10 days as part of his world tour.
He will open and close the Houston Live Stock Show and Rodeo in 2018.
