George does some dumb things…but there are people who are – “STUPIDER THAN GEORGE”
British paramedics say that a man almost died after a fish he had just caught managed to jump down his throat. South Western Ambulance Service says paramedics were called to the pier in Boscombe, in southern England, back on October 5th and found a 28-year-old man in cardiac arrest. The first responders were told that he had put the six inch Dover sole over his mouth as a joke, but it wriggled free and jumped down his throat, blocking his airway. Paramedic Matt Harrison said he tried to remove the fish with forceps “although the fish’s barbs and gills were getting stuck on the way back up.” Then, on the sixth attempt, he finally managed to extract it whole. The ambulance service also explained that the man, who has not been identified, suffered “no lasting effects” from the unusual mishap.
Authorities in Florida said a man who was arrested on a bank robbery charge told deputies that he did a Google search for “how to rob a bank” prior to the incident. The Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office said an undisclosed amount of cash was taken from the Achieva Credit Union in Largo on October 5th. The main suspect was identified as William Joe Johnson, 26, who was arrested Monday. Johnson told deputies he needed money and did a Google search for “how to rob a bank” before going through with the crime. He said he had initially planned to rob a Wells Fargo branch, but changed his mind after seeing a large male teller at the facility. The sheriff’s office said Johnson told investigators he had already spent all of the money from the incident and had planned to rob another bank Tuesday.
