#CanIGetAnAmen – Highlighting The GOOD News & Recognizing The Positive….
“It Made us feel…so special,” said 8-year-old Lucy.
It’s back to school time and teachers are prepping their classrooms – parents are getting their kids ready get back to class, but teacher Marielle Keller – who teaches kindergarten and first grade – had a different idea for a summer project for her students.
You see Marielle’s boyfriend Mike last school year brought in a children’s book he had made and read it to the class – it was about their teacher Marielle, and at the end of it – Mike got down on one knee and asked Marielle to marry him. The kids all loved it and that when Marielle decided to invite her entire class and their parents to the wedding.
But as the day got closer – Marielle said “When it came time to choose my flower girls and ring bearers they were the only kids that came to mind,” she told Inside Edition. “When you spend so much time with these kids, you basically live with them and grow close to them; I’ve had a lot of them for two years. I just couldn’t imagine any other kids being in the wedding.” So this past weekend 20 kindergarten and first graders walked Marielle down the aisle at her wedding.
They did a great job – even if a few of the kids shielded their eyes when Marielle and Mike kissed.
After the ceremony was over and done with, there was a special cupcake reception for the kids, while grownups headed to a private party.
‘Marielle is an amazing teacher,’ said Brooke Starnes, a mother of one of the girls in Marielle’s class.
