Huge Crowd For Farewell To Marine Dog With Cancer – #CanIGetAnAmen

Author: George

Time for our “CAN I GET AN AMEN” story of the day!  At “THE MORNING BULL” we believe in the power of positivity.  We believe there are more good people than bad in the world, and we believe that goodness should be celebrated when you find it!

A Dog is man’s best friend…that’s what we always hear, and Lance Cpl. Jeff Young says that is true for him and Cena, a 10-year-old black lab.  Lance Cpl. Young and Cena were paired together back in 2009 and 2010 for their tours of Afghanistan.

And Jeff adopted Cena in 2014 – and the dog has been a big part of him dealing with PTSD and settling back into life here at home.  But recently something wasn’t right with Cena, and you can imagine, when how Jeff felt got the word recently that Cena had terminal bone cancer.

Doctors came to Jeff last week and said there was nothing else to do and Cena was suffering pretty bad.  So, Jeff wanted to do something for his best friend who had served so bravely.

Jeff said, “I don’t to turn into a big fanfare, but he deserves his own parade”.  So he went to local Jeep Dealer to see if they could borrow a vehicle for his last ride – because Cena loves nothing better than riding in a jeep with the top off.

Well last week, Jeff got his jeep and a big surprise.  Seems word had gotten out to the military community and the local jeep family that Cena needed a send-off…

“…everyone showed up, and the Jeep community showed up and we have about 140 Jeeps here today.”

Cena got his final ride in the Jeep and the ceremony was attended by the U.S. Marine Corps League, Michigan State Police, and several other police and fire departments. Lance Cpl Young and Cena were both in their dress blues

“…every Marine has to go in a set of Dress Blues, that just the way we are…”

If You want to help, A GoFundMe page has been set up for donations to help build a headstone for Cena.

So where ever you are in the kitchen or in the car…can throw your hand in the air, “CAN I GET AN AMEN” for this … Always focused on the good news, and if you ever see a story that would make a great amen email it in at George@thebullhouston.com
