Time for our “CAN I GET AN AMEN” story of the day! At “THE MORNING BULL” we believe in the power of positivity. We believe there are more good people than bad in the world, and we believe that goodness should be celebrated when you find it!
Nolan Stilwell of Katy is special.
NOLAN IS A CULINARY ARTIST, YOUNG ENTREPRENEUR, AVID GARDENER AND NATIVE TEXAN, WHO HAPPENS TO HAVE DOWN’S SYNDROME.
Nolan has this thing with peppers. While still in high school, Nolan started growing Jalapenos…what a Texas thing to do, right! And Nolan’s pepper’s were pretty darn good – so much so that after he graduated high school, Nolan and his mom, Christine, decided they should take some of those great peppers and start the Sweet Heat Jam Company.
Christine said that after aging out of high school she didn’t want Nolan to lose purpose. So Sweet Heat Jam Company was born, and she said they got a big break while attending Special Olympics
“The pastor of the church here said with open arms we would love to have these students here because without them here our kitchen is closed, the lights are out and we can’t do anything productive when it’s like that,”
So they moved in, and now Sweet Heat Jam Company employs several full-time young adults and acts as a training ground for others. All of them have a disability.
“It really is a jam that has a deep, deep meaning to it and we hope that whenever someone tries the jam that they feel the love and the passion that’s in every jar,” Christine told Channel 2
And added, “…all we need are the funds to get into a bigger kitchen or to employ more people.” So we have put up a link in our amen story – so you can order some of this Sweet Heat Jam – http://www.sweetheatjam.com/buyonline/
They have 11 flavors – it can be used as a marinade, dipping sauce or Nolan says his favorite way to use the flavor Texas apple Pie is as a topping for your ice cream to give it a little of that sweet heat.
So where ever you are…in the kitchen or in the car – Can you throw your hand in the air… “CAN I GET AN AMEN”… – Focused on The Good it’s the Morning Bull, and if you ever see a story you think would make a great amen – email it in to us at george@thebullhouston
