Time for our “CAN I GET AN AMEN” story of the day! At “THE MORNING BULL” we believe in the power of positivity. We believe there are more good people than bad in the world, and we believe that goodness should be celebrated when you find it!
Roberta Ursrey and her family were enjoying the day at Miller County Pier In Panama City Florida – when noticed her two boys were not on the beach playing – suddenly she heard them screaming from the water that they were trapped by a rip current.
Others warned her not to go in the water, but Roberta, her mother, and five other family members swam to the boys’ aid, but then found themselves also trapped in the rip tide and they couldn’t make it back to the beach.
Jessica Simmons saw people pointing at the water. She thought they were pointing at a shark, but when she realized Roberta and her family were drowning. Folks Called 911 – but she realized that they weren’t going to last long enough for first responders to get to them That’s when she said to her husband, “These people are not drowning today. It’s not happening. We are going to get them out.”
Meanwhile, Simmons’ husband and some other men started a human chain to bring everyone back to shore. Some of the people couldn’t swim, so they stayed in the shallow water, eventually, about 80 people were involved and got to within feet of the family.
Simmons, her husband, and some others then towed the family to the chain, which passed them back to shore.
Ursrey’s mother suffered a heart attack and remains hospitalized. Otherwise, everyone was safe. Roberta said, “I am so grateful, These people were God’s angels that were in the right place at the right time. I owe my life and my family’s life to them. Without them, we wouldn’t be here.”
So where ever you are…throw your hand in the air… “CAN I GET AN AMEN”… – Focused on The Good it’s the Morning Bull with George, Mo and Cowboy Dave!
