That’s the way it should be… right? Our beloved state really has no specific law about leaving a dog to die in a hot car! I see it all the time and I’ve been seeing it more and more on facebook!
It’s freakin’ terrible and it’s 100% pure torture to the animal and we really should have a specific law and penalty for these bad people!
I found a recent story where some d-bag right here in Texas left his puppy in the hot car with the windows up for a half hour! By the time he got back out to the car, the police had gotten the pup outta the hot death box and questioned the terrible dog owner! He said that he didn’t wanna waste gas so he turned the car off…
Here’s the good news… the puppy is fine and has a new home… AND… they were able to slap the douche with a cruelty to non-livestock animals charge! It’s a Class A Misdemeanor with possible penalties of up to $4,000 in fines and a year in jail.
The potential is there for something bigger to protect our Texas critters from these scumbags… I realize a law won’t prevent them from locking their dogs in hot cars right away… but maybe after a couple dozen idiots are arrested and locked up, it will inspire them to stop! Even if it’s in the name of self preservation so they don’t have to be locked up!
If you see a dog locked in a hot car… here in Texas we don’t have the “good samaritans law” where you can break the window or any other attempt that is illegal to get the poor pup out. Our friends at the Humane Society tell us that you should get the license plate number and the make and model of the car and ask the local businesses around the car to page the owner. If that doesn’t work… then call 311!! Honestly though… I think we all know what most of us would do!
Check this out y’all!
