Winter Storm Update: School Closures
By Cowboy Dave

We were laughin’ our butts off this mornin’ hearing some of the local Bolivar interviews on KHOU 11 News.

It’s just further proof that we really do have that “COME AND TAKE IT” attitude here in Texas!

As Tropical Storm Cindy prepares to visit our coast… local news outlets are doing their best to warn folks of the possible dangers that could come with Cindy… but it’s mostly falling on deaf ears!

One man says “We’re havin’ a storm? I didn’t even know”

Cindy is supposed to hit around High Tide this evening and a lotta rain is coming with her. Although some reports are now saying that she has shifted east and that’s good news for all of us!

another local man says “Well I’m gonna put my lawn chairs in the garage and cut the grass before the rain hits”

They all seem to share the same opinion about Cindy… if we made it through Ike… this is nothin’!

I tend to agree… a lotta reporters kind of blow it up more than they should! I do think the “better safe than sorry” rule can be used here but like one resident said “We get rain and wind here all the time, this is no big deal”

Other than possible road flooding that may prevent you from leaving Bolivar… it’s hard to imagine that it will cause any Ike type damage.

I usually listen to folks and critters that actually live in the areas that will be affected the most… they know what to expect for the most part because that have lived through it for a lotta years! Nobody can truly predict the weather… but the locals seem to have a better grasp than anyone!

Are you concerned? Would you evacuate?
