A firm in California did a research study that put together the best places to live in America and Katy, Texas landed in 11th place. The study was based on different factors including:

House Affordability

Best School Districts

According to,

The 77450 ZIP code in the western Houston suburb ranked No. 11, according to HomeUnion, an online real estate investment management firm based in California. The study examined ZIP codes in 30 metro areas where the average school rating was in the 80th percentile or higher and showed the most affordable one in each.

Homes in Katy’s 77450 ZIP code, which includes part of Cinco Ranch, sold for a median price of $239,500 in late 2016 and early 2017, according to HomeUnion. The ZIP code, which is east of the Grand Parkway between the Katy Freeway and the Westpark Tollway, lies in Katy Independent School District.
I think Katy is really growing to be a powerhouse of a city. Their football stadiums look like collegiate stadiums and you can’t really differentiate between Houston and Katy as you drive down I-10 these days.
I’m sure life long Katy residents are tired of the growth but I’d bet new business owners don’t mind the growth. It’s thriving and is becoming a nationally known area to live in comfortably.
