You may have heard of the news of a proposed city plan to redesign downtown Houston’s highway system but there is finally a video presentation to give Houstonians a REAL look at what could be happening soon. It’s going to cost upward of $7 billion dollars and will completely change the look of downtown Houston. This will put an end to the winding 45 to 59/288 interchange and completely redirect traffic heading North and South.

The plan is intended to ease congestion in the perennial traffic areas that commuter have to deal with on a daily basis. You know, the spots that ALWAYS seem to stop even in the dead of night.

It will happen in multiple phases but commuter can expect the plan to take a long time to come to fruition. Yeah, you can go ahead and say it: MORE CONSTRUCTION THAT FEELS LIKE IT WILL NEVER END.

Personally, I really hope this happens because it will provide a much more aesthetically pleasing experience and hopefully release the headaches for commuters heading home in all directions. I particularly like the projected green spaces that will be overhead.
