Time for our “CAN I GET AN AMEN” story of the day! At “THE MORNING BULL” we believe in the power of positivity. We believe there are more good people than bad in the world, and we believe that goodness should be celebrated when you find it!
A big Thank You to Jason And Tracy Pattat for sharing today’s story
Middle School is tough. I’m sure we all still have some emotional scars of those pre-teen and early teen years. It was no different for Joel Rodriguez of Clear Lake Intermediate, just down I-45. Joel said “People were making fun of me,” and most of the time it centered around Joel’s shoes. Joel has never owned the cool shoes and other kids noticed, including 8th-grader Amien Emamalikhani.
So last week Amien walked up to Joel and showed him a picture of Air Jordans and asked the 6th grader if he liked those…and what his shoe size was. The 8th grader told Joel – “I got you tomorrow” – and then without telling parents or teachers…the two met up before school the next day and Amien brought Joel the Air Jordans, let him try them on and then told him they your…you keep them…..
(see The Story on Houston’s ABC 13)
Joel said “I thought he was lying but he actually brought them for real,” Amien said he’d outgrown the shoes and had only worn them once or twice before he outgrew them – as the dad if boys – I can tell you that happens a lot in middle school.
Joel said “I felt real happy. Someone said they wanted to trade (me another pair for) them but I didn’t want to because he’s my friend,” Joel said.
For his part, Amien said “I…told him to remember this day for the rest of your life,” and that “No matter how many bad people there are, there are always people that will help you in the long run.”
So where ever you are in the kitchen or in the car…can throw your hand in the air, “CAN I GET AN AMEN” for this … Always focused on the good news, and if you ever see a story that would make a great amen email it in at George@thebullhouston.com
