Cinco de Mayo is the annual tequila laden drink fest in and around Texas. The reason we celebrate is tied to my hometown of Goliad, Texas. (If you don’t want the history lesson skip down a couple of lines.)
General Ignacio Zaragoza led the Mexican troops in the Battle of Puebla against the French troops in 1862 and defeated them with a much smaller army. General Zaragoza was born in Goliad, Texas.
That’s why we celebrate the holiday.
Also, you know Americans will find any reason to drink.
Now that you know why you’re going to be partying you need to know how you’re going to get home and any option is better than driving yourself.
A) We don’t want you to kill anyone or yourself while driving drunk.
B) You don’t want or need a DWI or DUI.
C) If there is a free ride available you need to take it!
According to ABC13, a local attorney is offering a $30 rebate on your Uber or Taxi ride. You just have to mail them the receipt and they’ll send you a refund via PayPal.
While, this does mean you will initially have to pay for it yourself (save money for the ride home) it’s a very nice gesture of this law firm to do this. They say they know the dangers of drinking and driving and hope this effort will save lives. It’s quite a noble action, if you ask me.
For the rebate/refund you’ll have to send in your receipt by May 12. Please, drink responsibly.
