CAN I GET AN AMEN: [Video] Texans Lineman Finishes Chemo, Rings The Bell Off The Wall

Time for our “CAN I GET AN AMEN” story of the day!  At “THE MORNING BULL” we believe in the power of positivity.  We believe there are more good people than bad in the world, and we believe that goodness should be celebrated when you find it!

Houston Texans Fans Know the name David Quessenberry.  He’s the Huge Texans Offensive Lineman that drafted by the Texans in 2013.  During mini-camp that fall Quessenberry dealt with a persistent cough and shortness of breath during mini-camp.  Team officials knew something wasn’t right – but it didn’t lessen the blow when David went to the doctor and diagnosed with Non-Hodgkins lymphoma.

According to an article in the Houston Chronicle, Doctors discovered a mass in Quessenberry’s lungs. Enough fluid had built up that it could have been fatal if they hadn’t taken action quickly.  So that’s when football was put on hold and David started his journey.

The last 3 years he’s has been undergoing treatments at MD Anderson Cancer Center.  On Tuesday he finished.   Now if you’ve been to MD Anderson you know that when cancer patients complete their chemotherapy treatment, they ring a bell on the hospital wall to signify the end of chemo and the next step in their recovery.

Well David – all 6-foot-5, 300-pounds of him, finished up on Tuesday and he stopped to read the inscription on the plaque next to the bell.  “Now that you have completed your chemotherapy treatment, ring this bell to tell the world you are on your way to being well,”

So Quessenberry rang the bell and rang it and rang it – off the wall

“This bell just like cancer never stood a chance,” Quessenberry wrote on his Instagram post.  And we couldn’t agree more – well done David.

So where ever you are in the kitchen or in the car…can throw your hand in the air, “CAN I GET AN AMEN” for this … Always focused on the good news, and if you ever see a story that would make a great amen email it in at George@thebullhouston.com
