In a very deep interview with Rolling Stone Magazine, Shania Twain went into depth about her hiatus from music, her health, her personal relationships and her current ambitions. It’s been 15 years since she released a new body of work and she’s been itching to get back in the studio and to the song board.
In regard to dealing with her vocal chord issues she told RS Country, “Out in the spring, it also marks her first recordings since she was diagnosed with dysphonia, a vocal-cord disorder that causes hoarseness and trouble speaking. The issue kept Twain out of the studio for years as she received voice therapy. She eventually found a timbre that’s recognizable, but deeper than before. “I’m a different singer now,” she says. “There was a lot of coming to terms with that. It’s been one of the obstacles in my life I’ve just had to learn to live with.”
She has sold over 85 million albums and is still the reigning all-time best female seller in Country Music history. Through the complications of medical issues and divorce she has found a new energy to perform and have her music heard.
Shania Twain fans flocked to see her perform on tour last year and there’s certainly a huge audience on the edge of their seat to hear her new music.
She’ll be back on stage in April at the Stagecoach Music Festival but says she won’t be touring other than that, Instead, she wants to get started on another album; she calls writing “therapy.” “It helped me come to terms with a lot of things emotionally,” she adds. “It’s sort of like when you finish crying. When you’re done, you’re done and you move on.” (RS Country)
