If you’re anything like me, you were told growing up not to pick bluebonnets on the side of the road because it was illegal. I spent most of my childhood and most of my adult life driving on by and admiring from a distance because I felt that if I stopped the car, got out and picked one I’d be committing a crime.

APPARENTLY, that was a lie! Who started this lie?! I have gone to Snopes.com and they say it’s NOT illegal. I talked to a police officer and he said, 99% of people think that it’s illegal to pick bluebonnets and the 1% who don’t think it’s illegal are police officers!

So I took it up on myself to search Google and get to the bottom of this mystery and this is what I found…

Bill Powell told TexasTwisted.com, “There is no legislation against picking wildflowers. It is, in fact, not illegal to pick wildflowers.”

I feel like I’ve been duped. (Insert sad face emoji)
