Blake Shelton has made a habit of angering Twitter followers with his honesty and off-the-wall sense of humor, but now it appears that its classic country artists and fans that are taking offense to his latest controversial comments.

Shelton recently appeared on a GAC Backstory special. One comment he made during the show managed to anger at least one country legend, Ray Price. In the special Blake talked about the evolution of country music saying:

“Nobody wants to listen to your grandpa’s music. And I don’t care how many of these old farts around Nashville going, ‘My God, that ain’t country!’ Well that’s because you don’t buy records anymore, jackass. The kids do, and they don’t want to buy the music you were buying.”

Country Music Hall of Fame member Ray Price posted about it on his Facebook saying about Blake:

“This guy sounds like in his own mind that his head is so large no hat ever made will fit him. Stupidity Reigns Supreme!!!!”

Shelton apparently had a bit of a change of heart and Tweeted on Thursday:

“I hate that I upset him…The truth is my statement was and STILL is about how we as the new generation of country artists have to keep re-inventing country music to keep it popular.”

Shelton went on to apologize by saying:”I absolutely have no doubt I could have worded it better (as always ha!) and I apologize to Mr. Price and any other heroes of mine that it may offended.”

Hopefully these two can now call a social media truce.

However, there’s one more bit to this story that shouldn’t be overlooked. The always funny Ray Stevens put in his two cents in an official statement he released on Thursday:

“I just heard Blake Shelton’s remarks about ‘old farts and jackasses’ and all I want to know is how he found out the title to my next single because it’s been a closely guarded secret here at the ‘Home.’ It will be available on vinyl or 8-Track at your nearest Tower Records store.”

Now that’s the perfect way to end a country feud.
