‘American Idol’ has long been America’s #1 reality singing show but it looks like ‘The Voice’ has a little something to do with a recent drop in ratings for the show.

With the help of the superstar judging line-up with Blake Shelton, Christina Aguilera, Cee-Lo and Adam Levine, ‘The Voice’ is quickly becoming the reality signing competition to watch!

Another factor in Idol’s recent ratings drop might be from the departure of Simon Cowell. His trademark harsh criticisms of contestants was entertainment gold. A trainwreck you just couldn’t look away from whether you agree with the remarks or not.

According to the Shreveport Times, the current American Idol judging line-up of Jennifer Lopez, Randy Jackson and Steven Tyler draws an older audience — or at least doesn’t appeal as much to younger viewers.

“The ratings are proving there is clearly room for both ‘The Voice’ and ‘American Idol’ to not only coexist but thrive as well,” said an NBC spokesperson. “And on top of that, advertisers enjoy the family friendly environment that these shows offer and the opportunities to integrate their clients into them seamlessly.”

For now, it seems as though the ‘The Voice’ will end its second season next week on top, culminating with a with a performance from Lady Antebellum.
